The Friends of St Mary’s is literally just that – a group of people (mainly parents and carers of current pupils) supportive of the school. We welcome new members with open arms, be they in a position to take on one of the key roles, such as Chairperson, Treasurer or Secretary, able to commit to helping out on a regular basis, or available only occasionally, ad hoc.
We aim to support the school in a variety of ways, putting on enjoyable events for pupils and/or families, making second-hand uniform available at discounted prices, and fundraising in order to supplement the school’s resources.
Regular events are our Christmas Fayre (always a great success!), the ever-popular Lower and Upper School discos, our ‘Cakes for Books’ stall, and the Easter Hamper raffle.
As a result we have, amongst other things, been able to donate substantial funds to the school’s library for new books to add to the exciting range already on offer to pupils under the very popular ‘Accelerated Reader’ scheme, and to purchase a Climbing Wall for the school field, which has proved to be a great hit with pupils.
